This study furthered our research into using acupuncture in the management of adjuvant hormone treatment related hot flushes and night sweats.

In this study, we investigated using a form of acupuncture in which needles are inserted into the surface of the ear. All participants received the same treatment and were treated in small group clinics of up to five women per group.

Beverley de Valois was the lead researcher of this study which formed part of her PhD thesis. This was supported by the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre and was a collaboration with West London University (formerly Thames Valley University).

The clinical phase of this study was funded by Dr Richard Ashford, Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre.

It is registered with the UK Cancer Research Network.
